This coffee is produced by more than 700 smallholder farmers around Raro Boda, in the Uraga part of Ethiopia's Guji Zone. Each producer cultivates coffee on small plots, growing traditional Ethiopian landrace varieties alongside locally selected cultivars that thrive in the region's high elevations and fertile soils.
During harvest, only fully ripe cherries are hand picked before being delivered to the Raro Boda washing station. Here, the coffees from each producer are carefully combined and processed using the traditional washed method, resulting in a clean, vibrant cup that reflects the character of the surrounding community and landscape.
The combination of high altitude, fertile soils, and careful washed processing produces a coffee with remarkable clarity and balance. Rather than highlighting the work of a single producer, this community lot showcases the collective dedication and craftsmanship of hundreds of farming families, each contributing to a cup that expresses the distinctive character of the Guji region.
