Gasharu Coffee Washing Station was founded in 2014 and is managed by agronomist Valentin Kimenyi, who works closely with 1,650 smallholder farmers in the Nyamasheke district. Building on a family legacy of coffee farming and advice shared within the community, Gasharu focuses on quality, education, and long term stability. Farmers are supported in organizing as cooperatives and trained in governance and financial planning, helping build a more resilient future beyond the harvest.
Intego, meaning Resolution, reflects Gasharu’s curiosity and determination to refine natural fermentation. This coffee is the result of multiple trials, gradually shaping a fermentation medium designed to enhance body, clarity, and sweetness. The process is intentionally crafted, resulting in a coffee with depth, structure, and a lingering finish. It represents both Gasharu’s ambition to push flavor forward and their commitment to sustainable, people focused coffee production.
