Hidden in a rocky ravine among orchids and native flora, El Pedregal is the dream-turned-reality of Abel Arotaype Huayllas, a father of three and dedicated producer from the highlands of Cusco. After becoming a widower, Abel committed himself to creating a better future for his children through specialty coffee. In 2023, his efforts paid off winning a local competition with 90 points and placing in the top ranks at the Cup of Excellence in both 2023 and 2024.
This lot of Gesha is a result of careful organic farming, selective handpicking, and 72 hours of anaerobic fermentation. After a meticulous wash, the beans are dried under shade for up to 20 days to preserve complexity and balance. Abel’s approach highlights the potential of Inkawasi’s terroir and his growing expertise in post-harvest processing.
